Well down to business I suppose.  We left at bout 8 Wed. evenin Aug. 27th and drove straight through to Colorado Springs got there Thurs. evening.  It's pretty simple to get there really, take 64 West to St. Louis catch 70 West and ride that all the way out to Limon, Co. then take 24 South or West whichever it is all the way down to Colorado Springs.  Man just east of the Rockies is some pretty country let me tell ya!  It's nice and rolling and green like you wouldn't believe!  Willis found a place he wanted to buy.  I forget how many acres it was but they wanted $245 an acre but it still came to well over a million!  We slept there and headed out pretty early Fri. mornin we dropped down 25 till we hit 115 thren caught 50 west out all the way to a little town called Cimmarron.  Then it's down Big Cimmarron Rd a few miles to the Uncompaghre National Forrest and that's where we were huntin.

I believe this is called Blue Mesa or somethin like that.  I think its along Rt. 50 somewhere.

This was where we set up the first time.  Right here it was still 9500ft.

Straight back in there is where Willis, Justin, and Eugene camped for awhile last year.  Justin and Eugene hiked back through the pass you can see, there in the middle, one day.

Man I love this bow she shoots darts and is really quiet to boot.

One day we had to go out to Montrose and on the way back here was this guy standin right beside the road there was actually another nice buck with him but I couldn't get a picture of that one.

This is where we set up camp the second time at Rowdy Lake.

This is the little cabin we ended up staying in for the last week or so.

This is the area we were huntin in sure is pretty ain't it.

Don't tell anybody, but this was my first shot at a live animal! :(  But I had a good excuse, you see, me and Willis had been sittin down gettin ready to eat lunch an I happened to look down the hill and see an ear flappin.  There were 3 or 4 cows layin down bout 80yds below us so we got up and snuck down there got to bout 45yds and I told him to take the shot cause I kinda wanted to hold out for a bull.  Well I tried callin to em to get em to stand up but they weren't about to for another old cow so Willis took the shot layin down and just nicked her back.  She took off like a scared jack rabbit an the others jumped up and ran a little bit.  The one stopped and gave me a perfect broadside shot that I thought was fifty yds. and as I drew Willis was like "high 50" I thought he had ranged her so that's what I shot for lets just say she was like 70 an I nailed this stick!  Oh well that's bowhuntin I reckon.

Here he is! His rack might fit inside of Willis's but hey he's gonna be better eatin and for my first bow kill who cares!

That's a 120 qt cooler full of my meat.  We made the mistake of takin all that in one load.  We prolly each had close to 150lbs on our backs, took us 3 hours to go .8 miles downhill!   We left the truck at 5:15 to go pack him out.  It took us 45 min to get up to him and till we had everything cut up it was 8:00, we got back to the truck at 11:00 and were eatin backstrap at 12:30 Sun. mornin!

Well I need to go hit the hay so I can get up in the mornin and go ta work so toodleloo.

one more at least

Bear with me I'm gonna put up some empty posts so people that have dial up can actually get on here without waitin a half hour.

Hi I'm back!  As some of you may know I was just out in Co. huntin for a couple of weeks and if you didn't now you do! Here are a few pics I'm gonna split em up so y'all that have dial up don't have so many to load at once so here's the last bunch that will be on the second page by the time I'm done but I need to go to bed now so I'll finish tomorrow.

I shot mine right up here in this meadow at 10,700 feet.  We were set up along the left side Willis was uphill from me calling and he came in perfect straight towards me then Willis called again and he angled straight up to him.

That's how steep it is up top.  You don't have very good footing either becuase there's so much loose gravel so you have to kinda grab some of the grass above you to keep your balance good.

Check out that rub!

Willis is all smiles for some reason!  It was just about as much fun callin his in as shootin mine cause he came in bugleing and carrying on and I had to move up behind Willis to get him to come in right so he would have a shot.  He popped him at 20yds with 2 and a half hours to go on the last day.  We just gutted him there and packed him out the next morning.  It took two trips to pack him out.  We dropped the meat off at the processer then headed up to Will's for the night.

A storm had blown through while we were at Will's Thurs. night and coming back through the Rockies was pretty awesome!

The parting shot, this was coming through Kansas on the way home.  We had clouds and rain from the Rockies all the way to 80 mi. into Missouri.

Spose it's bout time I could do another update here.  Ain't been doin anything real excitin here lately been workin later than usual on some of my stuff an it's been killin my evenins.

Was up in Bellevile Pa this past weekend went up there for a fly-in at Sam Peachy's.  Was kind of a bummer though cause it wasn't a very good weekend for flyin.  Fri. it was rainy and nasty then Sat. it was nice an smooth in the morning then it got windy up higher late morning and all afternoon with a few sprinkles every now an then.  Only went up once in the mornin an got to fly a little bit, basically just brought it in and set up for landing.  Was the first time I've flown in a small plane since I was a little feller.  I was a little suprised everything felt pretty much natural except that I couldn't feel what I was doin with the rudder it was just so light.  But anyway still gonna need a little more time till I'll be ready to take our lil bird up.

Well anyway that's bout it for now.  Oh yeah Kendal if you see this I was just talkin to Wayne tonight an you needa pack up your wife an get yer tail up here so we can play some Rook!!  Naw just kiddin but we better get some in while yer up here!!
